This is a translation/summary for TYPE-MOON's Mahoutsukai no Hako - Starlit Marmalade Drama CD Volume 2.
If you like this, I strongly encourage you to buy the CD for yourself, which you can do
via Amazon.co.jp here. As usual, this translation is copyright 2024 by Heavens-Feel.com - feel

relies on dialogue, sound effects, and music to build up atmosphere and tell a story. Audio dramas like
this one continue to be useful as a medium for telling storylines from tv anime, manga, VNs, or videogames.

Returning characters are listed here. As more get introduced in the story, they'll also be featured in this
cast list. I use Japanese name order and retain Japanese honorifics in this text.
Since Katsuragi Chidori and Katsuragi Chikagi have the same family name, Chidori will be listed as
Chidori in the script text. If you see a line attributed to Katsuragi, it's for Chikagi, who is one of
the main characters in this.

Disc 2, Track 1 - Your Summer Vacation
[SCENE: Marie Muller and Harriet Frise have left Ahnenerbe and are walking on the sidewalk.]
Harriet: What. If you've got something to say, just go ahead and say it.
Marie: Okay. Our master told us not to go inside that place. (Tl note: not George!)
Harriet: That was just some reconnaisance. Like before, checking out the place before we do the infiltration.
     	   Understand?
Marie: Even so, my lady. Aren't you're getting too close to those girls?
Harriet: Well, that's - they don't even register on my magic detector. Isn't it logical that
I continue my observation up close?
Marie: "Find the ones who have the Holy Scripture Triten. But do not interfere with them."
     	   That was what the master-
Harriet: I haven't done anything like that but you interfered with me even then. Anyway, how
could you know that people who don't even register would be counted as targets?
		   Maybe you made a mistake.
Marie: It is unfortunate. But what you say is impossible.
Harriet: How can you declare that?
 Marie: Because I know, unfortunately.
Sugata: (*appears*) Hmm. It seems you're the ones strangely using familiars at night.
You're going to tell me why.
Harriet: You're one of Hibiki's friends. (realizes something) Ah! (bunches hands into fists)
You're the dog of The Church who's been wandering around this town!
Sugata: (cracks knuckles) I'll make you understand through force.
Harriet: Fine with me. If that's what you want (begins casting a spell, the air chimes with magical energy) you'll get it right now!
I'll stop your breathing! Church agent!
Marie: No, you can't. (grabs Harriet)
Harriet: What the heck, Marie!? Lemme go! Release me!
Marie: If you battle here, you'll attract too much attention. We're withdrawing.
Harriet: Damn it, I hate this!
Sugata: Think you can run!? (throws Black Key, which misses, clattering to the ground. )
[Marie, carrying Harriet, flees the battlefield, leaping tremendous distances to do so]
Sugata: Whaayi! Are you Japanese ninja? Dang it! They run away so fast.
 [LATER, AT AHNENERBE]
[Kureida and Misuzawa leave the cafe after paying. The bell on the door announces their departure.
Hibino and Katsuragi see them off, but are still wearing their disguises.]
Hibino x Katsuragi: (muffled) Thank you for coming!
Hibino x Katsuragi: [remove disguises, sigh in relief]
Katsuragi: I'm so tired! Really, really tired!
Hibino: (gasps for air, then giggles) It's so good they didn't figure out it was us!
Keitai: (speaking quickly) Ah-hah-hah! You worked hard, Hibiki-chan, Chika-chan! That was dangerous!
I wondered how this day would go, speaking frankly! Ah-hah-hah-hah-hah (is grabbed by Katsuragi)
Katsuragi: (gripping and squeezing Keitai) It'd be much more peaceful if you weren't here!
Keitai: (pained) I'm sorry! (proud) But my LCD screen is beautiful - and it's breaking.
Don't break me into little pieces!
Katsuragi: Taaaake thiiiiis! (snaps Keitai in half)
Keitai: (dying) Specialty labor! Playing around! About!
Katsuragi: (drops the pieces, gathers them) If you don't cut that out, I really will buy a press machine.
George: (somewhat bewildered) Umm - good work, you two. Anyway, please tidy up the cafe.
 Katsuragi: Yeppers.
 Hibino: Haaaiii!
Keitai: (reconstructing itself, beaming with self-satisfaction) But I was able to get the data of Mayuzumi-san.
I'm going to do some 3D modeling! (repeating a dull, stupid laugh) Mayuzumi-
(a tossed object from Katsuragi hits Keitai, breaking it)
[LATER][The three begin to gather, clean, and put away dishes and glasses, etc. ]
George: The two of you always pass through the same park on your way home, right?
Hibino: Park? Oh yeah, the public park in front of the torii gate.
George: According to rumor, at night there's some strange kind of ruckus there.
Whatever causes it suddenly assembles there. I hope they're not doing anything bad.
Hibino: Do you think that sumo wrestlers are having matches there?
Katsuragi: No, definitely not. But it's probably okay. We don't have to go back that way.
George: Okay. But be careful on your way back home. There are dangerous things hiding in the town at night.
[LATER] [Kureida and Mayuzumi are walking back.]
Kureida: That was an interesting cafe.
Mayuzumi: You really like it, don't you Kureida-san?
Kureida: (chuckles) I'd gladly stop by there every day after school.
Mayuzumi: It was very different from what I'd heard. There were more abandoned cell phones than I expected.
(relieved) Maybe it's better that I didn't bring Katsuragi-san here.
Kureida: Oh yeah, the loliko didn't come back after leaving the cafe.
Mayuzumi: I wonder if something happened with Fries-san. And Sugata-san just vanished.
       	     Sugata-san?
 Kureida: What's up?
Sugata: [now in the area] Sorry for that. I remembered something I had to do. You two can go home ahead of me.
Mayuzumi: Oh, is that it? It's getting dark, so take care.
Kureida: See you tomorrow. Don't stay up too late. [Kureida and Mayuzumi walk away]
Sugata: Nya-ha-ha-haaa! Ah. Well, that's true. Tonight, at least, I intend to sleep soundly.
[She gets on and uses a bus to arrive at her destination.]
[In a different part of the town, Katsuragi and Hibino are returning home on foot.]
Katsuragi: It's so humid right now. You know you're in summer weather when you step out of the cafe.
Hibino: (stretches) It's easier to relax and spend time now than during the day.
Katsuragi: No way. Absolutely not. I want to get back home and take a bath.
Hibino: Chika-chan, you're not good with the summer heat.
Katsuragi: And on top of that, I'm not good at dealing with the winter cold.
Hibino: Even though our summer break is coming up, we're not going anywhere!
 Katsuragi: Our summer break . . .
 Hibino: What about it?
Katsuragi: We talked about this before. About how I had a lot of things going on and couldn't make friends.
Hibino: Oh yes. That was back during the Sarashina-san thing.
Katsuragi: Yes, there was that. I was lazing about at home, or playing games, or sometimes watching TV. It made
me think how long the summer break was.
 Hibino: (tearful) Chika-chan!
Katsuragi: Hey, don't get me wrong. I'd head out with my sister and some buddies. I didn't have times when I was lonely.
 Hibino: Excuse me.
Katsuragi: But you'd spend your summer break in a different way, right?
Hibino: (giggles) Yes. This'll be a lovely summer vacation. But . . . [sounds of ocean waves hitting the beach]
       	     Hmm?
 Katsuragi: What is it?
Hibino: (nervous laughter) Please excuse me, Chika-chan. I need to do some shopping for tomorrow. I didn't remember
       	     that before.
Katsuragi: Ingredients for the lunch? You're always treating me. Let me go with you.
Hibino: (nervous laughter) It's all right. Really. I'm happy you have fun eating it.
I'll see you tomorrow (runs off)
Katsuragi: Hey, wait a minute. (runs after Hibino, then stumbles) It's hard to see! She runs so fast.
(She remembers what George said about the city at night.)
The public park is just ahead. There's no way, right? Wrr-heyyyyy! (runs off)
