This is a translation/summary for the Lucky Star Drama CD - Summer, ComiFes, Lucky Star.
If you enjoy this, I strongly encourage you to buy the CD for yourself, which you can do
via Amazon.co.jp here.

I have long been a fan of Matsuki Miyu and her work. One of the main points of focus
for this site is TYPE-MOON and their projects. Matsuki Miyu provided the voice of Hisui (Melty Blood)
and Sapphire (Fate Kaleid Prisma Illya), and her passing has affected us all deeply. I want to translate
something she's done that hasn't received much attention in the west. This will serve as a tribute
to her and as something I can give back to her fans.

As usual: this translation is copyright 2015 by heavens-feel.com .
Feel free to link to it on your site, but don't host it there.
If you look down, you'll see an embedded youtube video and a script for it underneath
the video. To use this translation, start the youtube video and then use the scroll bar
on the right of the script to scroll down as necessary. As more parts of the cd are
translated, different links will open to the other sections. If you want to see other
translations, there's a link at the bottom you can click on to see the main
section for those.

I keep in honorifics and use Japanese name order in my work. From what I can tell
so far, this story exists outside of the Lucky Star "Prime Universe" timeline seen in
the anime. Some of the events of the "Prime Universe" happen here, but in different
ways.

IN REGARD TO THE TYPHOON, IN REGARD TO THE CULTURAL FESTIVAL.

[Scene: Outside. Konata walks up to Tsukasa. ]

 Konata: (yawns) Good morning.

Tsukasa: Good morning, Kona-chan. It's hot again today, isn't it?

Konata: Yes, and thanks to that I feel drowsy. Even though it was cool until
 yesterday because of the typhoon.

Kagami: We have clear weather after typhoons. All the clouds get blown away.
Nothing's left to block the sunlight.

Konata: Which is this year why we had that new word (台風一過) to describe that.
There are lots of them. (TL note: Konata says kyoudai ika here .)

 Kagami: Funny!

 Konata: Hmm?

Tsukasa: Oneechan, can we stop at a supermarket on the way back home?

Kagami: Sure, I guess. What do you want to get?

Tsukasa: We're out of eggs. Mom told me to get some.

 Kagami: Okay. Sure. Hmm.

 Konata: Say, Kagami.

Kagami: (startled) Oh, what is it?

Konata: I wanna ask you something. What was funny about what I said earlier?

Kagami: Before? Just to be sure, you were joking, right? About how it was
a powerful family (強大一家)? You didn't really think it was one big family,
 did you?

 Konata: Hmm . . .

[SCENE: Ryoo Academy. The school chime rings.]

Tsukasa: When you hear the chime, you really feel that you're in school.

Konata: Yes, it makes us feel tense.

Tsukasa: I'll have to work hard today.

 Konata: (sfx: being lazy)

Tsukasa: Hey! You have to work hard today too, Kona-chan.

 Konata: It's all right if I don't. It's a bother.

(A loud rumbling thing rushes from the hallway into the classroom.
 It's Kuroi-sensei.)

Kuroi: (gasps for breath) Everyone, to your seats!
(coughs, gathers her composure) Did all of you have a good
 summer vacation?

 (The class mumbles/murmurs.)

Kuroi: But the vacation is over, so get back on studying and working hard.
 All right?

 Konata: Excuse me, sensei?

 Kuroi: Oh, Izumi. What's up?

Konata: Your hair is really messed up so even if you say that, your statement
has no power to convince us.

Kuroi: Can it! You asked me to play a late-night net game with you!

Konata: Yes, but I'm here and awake.

Kuroi: It has to happen on one of the rare times she's here on time!

 Tsukasa: (laughs nervously)

[Scene: inside the school. The chime rings, indicating the day is over.]

Kuroi: All of you, be careful going home.

Konata: Sensei, this is about tomorrow's homeroom.

 Kuroi: What's up?

Konata: I want to talk about this year's bunkasai.

Kuroi: That's right, we do need to think about that.
Do you want to suggest something?

Konata: Since we have this chance, I want to do something with the class
that'll leave us with a great memory.

 Kuroi: So . . . like a coffee shop?

 Konata: A coffee shop?

Kuroi: What's wrong? Don't you work at a place like that?

Konata: That's why I don't want to do it here. It'll be a bother to do that both at work
 and at school.

Kuroi: You have no interest in anything but your hobbies. Talk about throwing
 cold water on my idea.

Konata: Other standard ideas include selling takoyaki or yakisoba, right?

Kuroi: I personally would want beer and drinking snacks. That's probably a
 non-starter.

Konata: Now all we're doing is talking about food. Where's the culture part of
 our bunkasai (culture festival)?

Miyuki: We can say that it's food culture.

 Konata: I get it.

 Kuroi: Good point.

 Miyuki: I was joking.

Kuroi: Well, other than that . . . we could do a haunted mansion or a planetarium.

Konata: But since this is our bunkasai, we could try to do something really special.

 Kuroi: Like what?

Konata: Setting aside all the half-baked "culture" and looking at something magnificent from
this age, such as nature and man, befitting our class and history teacher Kuroi-sensei.

Kuroi: That sounds really boring! But perhaps you're right. We'd still end up with something
we couldn't show off to others.

 [SCENE: The Izumi house.]

 Yui: Heya! Good evening!

 Konata: Yui-neesan. Welcome.

Yui: Thanks! I came here to visit. Yutaka's here with me, too!

 Yutaka: Good evening.

 Konata: Yu-chan, it's been a while.

Yutaka: It has been a while, Konata-oneechan.

Konata: You don't have to be so formal. Just call me whatever, like Yui does.

 Yutaka: Thank you.

Yui: Hey Yutaka, get me a beer.

 Yutaka: Oneechan?

Konata: You can open up the fridge without asking. It's fine.

 Yutaka: But . . .

Konata: I'm telling you it's fine. What's up?

Yutaka: I was just thinking about how I'm in the same family as you, Konata-neechan.

Konata: Oh, that's right. Yuu-chan's pretty smart.

Yui: (drinking beer) That's all fine, but you're basically praising yourself.

Konata: Anyway, I'll be your sempai, and that was my advice.
Yu-chan's studying for exams. I bet that's hard.

Yutaka: Not really. I just deal with problems on the day they come up.

Konata: I had something like that today.

 Yutaka: What was it?

Konata: I was talking with a friend about the typhoon. I thought that all the typhoons
coming were like a family, so I called them ika. Was that wrong?

Yui: (laughs) Konata's dumb! The season includes multiple typhoons. That's
 just common sense!

Yutaka: (quietly) Oneechan, that's wrong. It really is like a family, just like the word.

Yui: (shocked) It was the special vocabulary for that year . . .
There goes the allure I have as an older sister.
