Kagami Translations did a partial translation of this CD which began here,
however, to this writer's knowledge it was never completed. I'll do it. These are things I do
to maintain my level of Japanese, so I made my own translation for all tracks on the CD.
As usual, this translation is copyright 2015 by Heavens-Feel.com - feel free to link to it on

like old time radio dramas, relies on dialogue, sound effects, and music to build up
atmosphere and tell a story. Audio dramas like this one continue to be useful as a medium for
telling storylines from tv anime, manga, VNs, or videogames. I hope that you enjoy this summary

======================================================================== Summary of Events: The scene opened outside in the city. The sounds of people moving to and fro, along with moving cars, could be heard. Riesbyfe was there, narrating to herself. "August. Misaki city streets. In one hour, about 100 people passed by. Train passengers, several hundred per hour. In the recent past, about 360. This summer . . . in this troubling, stifling heat, there was someone suffering like a fish asphyxiating in the air. Should I say something? Or should I stay silent? From this beginning, I was here - Riesbyfe Stridberg, in the summer heat. The incident with the TATARI has been resolved, but after it I lost my official position with the Holy Church. Now I'm in a back alley away looking at the main street, which is like a frying pan. The fierce heat of Japanese summers is very different from the weather in my native Sweden. I also feel like I'm starting to understand the native faiths here. For example, I've started to understand why Zen Buddhism is so complex. They must be, since they practice in this heat. " Someone turned the page of a book and sighed. It was Sion. "This is wonderful entertainment. Businesses attuned to mania tastes create literary works derived from other literary works. This is enough to amaze even Frank Tipler. " Riesbyfe described the situation. Sitting in the shade, turning through the pages of a an old magazine was none other than Sion Eltnam Atlasia, enduring the heat of the morning in her melancholy and languid way. Sion was an excellent alchemist, and a dear friend of Riesbyfe. If she returned to the Atlas organization, she'd be able to live comfortably as a director. Yet for some reason she's enjoying living in this alley. Since she was half-vampire, maybe she wasn't bothered by this heat. Beside them, Satsuyuki Yumizuka made a pained sound. She said that she was hungry. And thirsty. As Yumizuka stirred to wakefulness, she turned and saw Riesbyfe. "Riesbyfe! It's noon and you're already here! Did you finish your violin work?" Riesbyfe said that yes, it was finished - due to the Obon holiday break. The place she worked would be closed for two whole days. It was sudden, so she hadn't made any plans for how to spend the holiday. Now she had idle time and was a little bored. Yumizuka comprehended the situation. That's why Riesbyfe had come over still wearing her suit. Even so, that was amazing. In this incredible heat, Riesbyfe had not even popped a sweat. Riesbyfe seemed blase about that, explaining that she didn't suffer from the elements, feeling neither cold nor heat. Riesbyfe resumed her narration, noting that the one lurking in darkness, hiding her eyes from the light, was none other than Yumizuka Satsuki. She had arrived on the scene in Misaki city about half a year earlier, and had been living with Sion. Satsuki was also a high school student. Or rather, she used to be a high school student. She was attacked by a Dead Apostle and thanks to the intervention of a talented foe, she was saved from the normal routine of a nocturnal predator. Even so, Satsuki was now a vampire. Much like Sion, she was now sweating profusely. Riesbyfe decided to retake her previous assumption: it seems that vampires do feel the heat. Sion had previously become a half-vampire, but by now her body was that of a vampire. The summer sunlight must be torture for her. Even so, today she was looking forward with an energetic face full of positivity, though she was shielding her eyes from the light. Finally, Riesbyfe was different from these two. She had an ordinary body. Riesbyfe used to work doing vampire suppression, but now was a good friend to these two and functioned as their bodyguard. As an agent, she'd probably fallen as far as she could. She did not care. After all, what she was doing now was really fun. Even if her position changes, if she can be a shield for someone else, she won't hesitate. Anyhow, she thought, today looked like it was going to be another peaceful day. It would be the first break she'd had in a long, long while. She'd have nothing to say if things would continue being this quiet. TITLE CALL - MBAAC OST - Cinch! [MELTY BLOOD Drama CD : Ladies in the Water] Satsuki sighed, commenting that it was another hot day. Sion assented, observing that in numerical terms, it was 36.3 degrees Centigrade (97.34 F), which was 0.5 degrees cooler than yesterday. "It's summer," noted Satsuki. Sion assented, noting by both the weather phenomena and the date, there was no doubt this could be anything but summer. Satsuki sighed again, prompting Sion to note that Satsuki wasn't keeping her cool. "What is the problem, Satsuki?" asked Sion. "Well . . ." began Satsuki, "I would love to go to the pool." Sion replied, "Oh, is that all? There is one in Misaki. And it's a public one. It's not far, and we can get there by walking in a straight line for 15 seconds." Satsuki whined that in terms of feeling, it seemed to be very far away. "In terms of feeling? Oh, are you worried about the cost? If so, things will be okay if we go there at night. It's free then." Satsuki did not find consolation in that. "It's good if it's free, but if we go there at night both the water slide and the wave pool will be closed." Sion was not moved. "You have to be strong. The only one of us bringing in cash is Riesbyfe. We shouldn't use the money she provides on luxuries." Riesbyfe turned to her. "I don't really mind, and I can pay for tickets to the pool-" "Please hush, Ries!" said Sion. "You have to be careful not to spoil Satsuki too much. In fact Satsuki, you should be thinking about the state of your own body. During the daytime you'd walking around in the rays of the sun, in full view of people, paying for admission, etc. This is something I can not approve of. I would have to scold you three times over." Embarrassed, Satsuki tried to laugh it off. "It figures that Sion would say this was no good. Very well. Prudence rules the day," she said dejectedly. Riesbyfe was neutral. "Why are you giving up, Satsuki? It'll be okay if we go at night. If you feel lonely, I'll tag along." "That's not quite it," said Satsuki. She continued, "No, we don't have to go. I just wanted to have some fun playing with Ries-san and Sion, like a normal girl. That's it." Sion was moved. "Satsuki . . . " Riesbyfe understood now why Satsuki had wanted to go. "Satsuki, I'm sorry for not saying anything earlier. Sion, you haven't had a chance to play for a long time. Please excuse my lack of understanding. It'll be okay if we all go to the pool right now. I'll even cover your entrance fee, Sion," she offered generously. "That's why I didn't want you to indulge - wait, who said I wasn't going?" said Sion, changing tactics. "There are many ways for us to fight the sun while in the pool." Satsuki was surprised. "You mean you'll go with us to the pool?" Sion assented. "Yes, since Ries is going. Besides, she'd go even if I tried to stop her. However, before we go I have some conditions that must be met. We'll be acting like Daywalkers. We need to talk to a specialist." Melty Blood Act Cadenza OST - GCV 2005 Arcueid arrived on the scene. "Yo-ho! What's up? You called?" as usual, Arcueid was excessively enthusiastic and full of energy. Sion greeted her and apologized for calling her all the way out where they were, explaining that Satsuki need- Satsuki interrupted. "Right now, I really want to go to the pool!" Arcueid, going along with the mood, said that it was a great idea and that they should all go. The two continued to feed off each other's emotional state, intensifying the eagerness to go. Then Arcueid grabbed Satsuki and began to drag her out of the shadows and towards the street - where the burning light of the sun would incinerate the poor undead girl. "Stop! Arcueid-san! My hand is turning to ash!" cried Satsuki. Arcueid came to a full stop as Satsuki dashed back into the shadows. Satsuki tried to explain - it was still daylight, meaning the sun was shining down from the sky. Arcueid, still oblivious to what they meant, commented on the good weather they could enjoy today. Definitely a good day to take off and have fun. A great day for that. Satsuki, flustered, explained that it wasn't a great day for her. Arcueid seemed puzzled. "Is it too bright? If it's like this, it shouldn't be powerful enough to kill you instantly," the true Ancestor observed idly. Satsuki said that the sun was bright enough to burn a normal human. Riesbyfe was impressed as she watched Satsuki and Arcueid debate the safety of the sunlight. "Sion, this woman is indeed a special case. In fact, I think she's too irregular to use as a case study." That was Riesbyfe's clinical observation. Sion agreed, saying that it seemed to be the way things turned out. Sion said that she thought Arcueid had been using some kind of special skill, but it turned out that she was just a big ditz. There was nothing that could be done. It was time for them to move on. Riesbyfe's eyes narrowed. "What do you mean?" Sion answered, "Among all that nonsense, there's another clue for us to look into. It'd be quick to get to if we go now. " The group lifted a manhole cover and slid it to the side. They began to climb down the ladder. "I don't have a problem moving a manhole cover and going underground," stated Riesbyfe. "But is this part of the sewer? In truth, it's rather clean." Sion explained her reason: "This place is underground, away from the light of the sun. If you understand that, I think you know why I chose this." "Oh, in here!" exclaimed Arcueid. "I get it." Yumizuka oohed and ahhed in surprise. "I never knew there was a tunnel like this underneath the city!" Proud of her accomplishments, Sion explained how she knew of this: "I found this when I was doing an investigation of the city areas. When you first see it, it looks like a standard sewer tunnel, but an investigation revealed it had never been used as a tunnel, and it never appeared on any official maps." "No, it wouldn't be," said Arcueid. Sion continued: "In the first place, for a sewer tunnel, its structure's design is just bizarre." Not sure where this was going, Riesbyfe asked what she meant by that. "In a lot of ways. Normally, a sewer tunnel has many entrances and one exit. However, this tunnel has one entrance and many exits." Arcueid also contributed to this analysis: "Plus, for a sewer tunnel it's extremely wide, isn't it? And there's no water running through it." Riesbyfe said, "In short, it was designed to function as a way to move things around unseen. It's an easy to use hidden passageway. Is this a leftover from WWII?" Arcueid liked the idea, but gave an alternate explanation: "If it was completed that long ago, there'd be traces of use. But there are none." The group continued down the tunnel. Sion warned them, "Above all else, don't deviate from the path I'm walking down. Some of the other areas have steam traps." Satsuki was starting to feel uneasy. "This place is creeping me out." Arcueid, however, remained upbeat. "Really? Well, setting aside issues of liking or disliking it, this is quite useful for what we need. They wouldn't even be able to search for us if they dropped us down here." Satsuki laughed nervously, then groaned. "Acting like an energetic, enthusiastic vampire who loves unlife is not for me." After a while, Sion stopped. "We're here." Satsuki seemed puzzled. "Umm, Sion . . . Is this really where we are supposed to be?" "Your apprehension is only natural, Satsuki-san. But we are in the right place. An area marked by a garish, fancy, flashing neon light over a sign with a witch mascot. It makes you think it's an entirely different spot altogether. But there can be no doubt." "I know this place," commented Riesbyfe. "This is a place where you can eat crabs, " she said as she rang the bell for the place. Satsuki stared at her silver-haired pal. "That's totally different from the sign, Ries-san. But this place has something to do with entertainment or hobbies, for sure." The teenaged vampire girl looked at the sign. "What's this? Magical Chemical Myriad Management AmberGround. Hours of Operation: Opens When Akiha-sama leaves. Closes when Akiha-sama returns. Days Off: When Akiha-sama spends all day at the mansion. Wow, now I'm getting a really bad feeling about this place," said Satsuki. "Is this place really okay?" asked Riesbyfe while looking at the sign. She seemed unhappy. "I can't tell when this place will open or close." Arcueid looked at it and seemed unfazed. "If it's the little sister, it's easy to predict her movement patterns. Around this time, it'd definitely be open." They opened the door and caused the bell attached to it to ring. Arcueid seemed disinterested in entering the establishment, and leaned against the wall outside. "I'll be waiting here. Take your time." Inside was a bizarre arrangement full of bubbling cauldrons. The proprietor of this establishment appeared, wearing a dark blue hooded cloak. "Welcome to the shop! Oh, everybody's here! Will you be dining inside?" Satsuki recognized the owner. "Kohaku-san! No, I guess you're not right now . . ." Kohaku let that slide. "I suppose that means you'll be dining inside!" Then she took off like a bullet shot from a gun. Risebyfe stared at the odd setup. "What kind of place is this?" Sion kept her cool. "It's like it says on the sign. However, I can not understand the full story. Or to be clearer: we can use this place to discover things and this taboo place has perfect defense even against a raid from a special forces unit. That's about all I can say. It's that kind of shop." Riesbyfe kept cool, but looked slightly discomforted by that explanation. "I used to work for something like that during my active duty years," she said. "Still, this place looks like it'd be hard to discover." Overhearing their conversation, the proprietor and operator,Magical Amber Kohaku giggled. "Everyone kindly says that. By the way, what are you looking for today?" she asked helpfully. "Yes. Well, Satsuki wants to go to the pool and-" began Sion, only to be interrupted by Satsuki again. "Yes, that's right! If possible, I'd like to go during the day. You see, the sun is not good for me. Is there anything you can do?" Kohaku smiled. "You have said something very good. I was just about to roll out my new invention, a super powerful sun protection lotion." And with that, the beaming witch placed a glass bottle full of suspicious liquid on a table. "Umm . . ." Satsuki regarded the container and its contents with uncertainty. "The liquid's very green, but for some reason it looks like it's glowing." Riesbyfe looked at the liquid. "Oh, I know this. That is something I saw when I looked inside the rice cooker that I had lost for three years. And by the way Sion, you should hurry up and punch that woman." Sion did, and that jogged Kohaku's memory. "I know you!" the witch cried. "You're that person I met at the airport! Kyaa! Please go home! I'll sue if you use violence again, and will use the defensive force of Misaki city! In a 黄白的(kouhaku-teki, corrupted) way, even!" Sion took charge. "Behind me, Ries. Don't worry, Doctor. We came here to do a trade. In the same way that humans can sell their souls. We will not cause you harm." The mad scientist/witch/maid seemed unsure. "Really? I hope you're telling the truth. I won't like it if you lie." "Of course," said Shion. "You are aware that I dislike Kyougen comic theatre. Will that gel-like substance be of real use to us?" Kohaku lightened. "Yes! The unpleasant looks and texture of the substance are unimportant. However, the effectiveness of this genuine substance is guaranteed! If applied to a person, even in bright light you'll be able to create a memory of love with an inexperienced pale boy." Riesbyfe stared. "Even though it's sunscreen, it makes you more aggressive?" Kohaku seemed proud of it. "If you break through the barrier, it's all good! So go ahead! Don't hold back." "Uh . . . okay," said Satsuki, looking at the directions. "Apply thoroughly to the back of the hand . . . oh, this is absorbed by the skin!" she said, surprised. "Yes, that's right. Without any reason! And it has a raw meat flavor." Riesbyfe was alarmed. "Raw meat flavor? Does that mean it's tepid medicine-" she stopped, as she had bit her tongue while saying the tongue twister. Sion was impressed. "As always, your concoctions resemble ill-looking poisons." Satsuki asked if just applying this lotion was enough. The mad medicine-brewing maid asked if they should give it a test. "As it turns out, we get a bit of natural light from one place in the lab. Why don't you try to poke the light beam with a finger?" Satsuki walked over to it. "I'm scared, but I'll give it a try." She did, and . . . "This is great! Nothing is happening!" Satsuki exclaimed, happy to have something go to plan for once. Kohaku herself was glad. "The experiment has been a total success!" That made Satsuki wince. "An experiment!?" Riesbyfe wound back. "So, how many punches should I give the doctor? Just one?" Kohaku leaned back, her arms rising to defend herself. "I was just kidding. I don't like violence, and I delivered what was promised. The shield man just can't read the atmosphere." Riesbyfe was hurt. "I'm a maiden, not a man." Kohaku hadn't heard that last part, but did remember something that Satsuki mentioned earlier. "Didn't you say you wanted to use that outside?" Satsuki happily answered, "Yes, in the pool!" Time to hit her with the bad news. "I'm sorry, but that won't work with the stock formula. You'll need to add the option to use it in water. Just putting the base formula on won't protect you against light reflected on water, or your nose from intense light. Being in an area like that will result in painful burns." Sion considered what was said. "I think I understand. So it would not protect the eyeballs, either. They'd melt into goo. Like those victims who melted into mud half a year earlier." Satsuki was crestfallen. Riesbyfe stiffened. "I'd appreciate it if you didn't talk about something out of a horror movie." Satsuki then remembered what Kohaku had said. "You mentioned there was an option that'd take care of this, didn't you?" "Of course! Let me tell you about Plan A!" exclaimed Kohaku, removing the cloth draped over an object on one of her tables, a jar containing a black, shining mask. "Take this applier and stick it it to your face. It's easy!" The mask spoke. "That's it, mother! It's me, mother!" Sastsuki pushed away the jar. "What is this mask? It's like something out of Scream! " Kohaku picked up the alarming applier. "Oh this? I used a model from an Italian organization. His name is Sukekiya-san." Riesbyfe looked doubtfully at the mask. "I wouldn't want to put that on my face and try to swim." Running through possibilities in her mind, Sion spoke up. "Doctor, you said this was Plan A. It follows then that there is a Plan B." Kohaku chuckled. "Correct! Insightful as always, Sion! It helps that you're so sharp. Well then, on to Plan B. Here's a Personal Bucket. How about it?" Riesbyfe was underwhelmed. "A bucket? As in, are you telling her to wear the bucket? Although I do know someone who did something like that." Kohaku confirmed their idea. "You can use it that way. Let it grab your head. It's also useful if you place it over Akiha-sama's head when you want to capture her. An excellent item, simply wonderful. In any case, I think it'll be easier for you to understand if you try it. Yumizuka-san, bring the bucket over to the light beam. Add in one capful of the sun blocker and melt it in the bucket with some water." As Satsuki began doing so, Kohaku explained the importance of doing so slowly. "Is this about right?" asked Satsuki. "Very good!" replied Kohaku. "Now take the mix in the bucket and apply it to your head. But stick your head in the bucket. Be sure to follow all of the instructions I give you." "Sure," answered Satsuki. "First off, open your eyes as much as possible and then spin them around as much as you can. When you are done, raise your hand." Satsuki followed the command and raised her hand. "Excellent. Now do what I do," Kohaku said before voicing different tones. Underwater, Satsuki did her best to copy the sounds Kohaku was making. "Once more!" said Kohaku gleefully. "Wait a second, isn't she in water right now?" observed Riesbyfe. "Yes, of course," answered Kohaku. Satsuki labored to deliver the tones, the water bubbling as she did so. "You've done well! It's time for the finishing touches. Could you try to inhale some of the water? If you take a little of it into your body, it'll be able to protect every nook and corner." Riesbyfe did not like that last part. "Are you sure that it's okay for her to do that?" asked Riesbyfe. Kohaku pointed out that Satsuki did not have a human body and that the vampiress would only die from extraordinary measures. The water bubbled as Satsuki did as she was asked. Riesbyfe was still worried. "This won't cause any harm to Satsuki, will it?" Kohaku waved away the concern. "It'd be dangerous for me to touch that with my bare hands. For her, it'd be dangerous if she used it without diluting it with water in the Personal Bucket. Satsuki gasped and came out of the water, which made Kohaku jump back. "Careful! It'd be bad for me if I got hit with that. Kohaku Device!" The mechanical action of a superscience device clanking together resounded. "It's fast! Or rather, you shouldn't be recommending that people try dangerous things!" shouted Riesbyfe as she dodged out of the way. "Wait, Rise," began Sion. "Let's check the details out first. Doctor, if this is soluble, in water, what will happen if the wearer enters a swimming pool?" "Good work, Sion! You've noticed an important detail!" said Kohaku. She then brought out yet another unwholesome gadget. "This is a waterproof parka! Just by putting this on, even if you're dowsed with water, the coating won't come off!" Meanwhile, an orca surfaced in one of the lab's pools. "Way to go, Shamu! Woow!" exclaimed the mad doctor. Riesbyfe was becoming angry. "It was just a little bit at first but now you're piling on one complication after another! This kind of intensity is too much." "I appreciate the compliment," answered Kohaku. She then bid Sion try the same process. Meanwhile, Satsuki saw a box to the side. "Is there something poisonous in this too?" All humor left Kohaku's voice when she told Satsuki that the box must never be opened in the shop. In fact, it'd be bad if they inhaled anything inside it. It should only be opened if the owner is sure no one else is around. Riesbyfe asked if it was some kind of bioweapon, then noticed that Sion was completing the bucket course. "Sion, are you doing this too!?" Sion attempted to voice the sounds properly even though her head was submerged. LATER . . . Sion withdrew her head from the combined liquid. "There's definitely poison in that, Ries" she said clinically. "In addition, from long ago, there's been one said to progress from a genius towards a god. She's obviously a troubled soul, but I trust her and her inventions," said Sion. "Oh, thank you very much! I'm blushing! And you, Sion, when you did that pyramid shape in the Back Alley Alliance, you couldn't read the atmosphere or make the joke work. Come On!" said the maid, happy to be flattered. Now that the treatment was over, Satsuki was interested in heading on out. "Do these items come as a set? And Ries, could I count on you to settle the check?" the twin-tailed teen asked. Ries sighed. "Okay. I'll pay for this stuff. Excuse me ma'am, how much do we owe for these two?" Kohaku bowed. "Thank you for your business! The rays of the summer sun are the natural enemy of a maiden's skin!" The red-haired maid/witch/mad scientist brought out a calculator and began totalling up the amount owed. "Hmm. Fortunately you bought that during a special sale for promoting the new product. Okay, I'll give you a big discount! All told, it comes to only this." The cash register rang as the three visitors looked at the bill and then their jaws hit the floor. "That's an entire weeks' wages," groaned Riesbyfe. Sion tried to help Riesbyfe understand why this had happened. "You have to think of this shop's location, its nature as a hidden secret, and the cost of obtaining its unusual supplies. Once you do, that seems about right." Satsuki wanted the stuff, but didn't want to put her friend out. "Umm, Ries-san . . . " Ries gulped and resigned herself. "It's all right. You can count on me, Satsuki. If it's for you, this much is nothing. (quieter) crap . . . (angry) Fine, take this, you suspicious maid." Kohaku accepted the bills and flipped through them, satisfied. "It's all here. I'll even throw in the waterproofing treatment for the medicine for free, as a service to you. The instructions detailing how to use it are on the outside package. I suggest that you carefully read them before using it." Ries picked up the package, looking at it with strong doubt. "This isn't a poison, is it?" Kohaku smiled. "Not in any way. You could even lick it and be all right. However, any strong shock may cause it to explode. I suggest you carry it with utmost care." Yet another alarming bit of news made Riesbyfe wince in irritation. "I've never heard of any cosmetic product exploding," she said, clearly worn out by the experience. The group left the store with their purchases. Inside Kohaku thanked them for their purchases and bid them come again. Riesbyfe moaned that the raw meat flavor inside her mouth was tiresome. Sion was puzzled. "You didn't need that special medicine the way we do." Riesbyfe tried to justify her unusual choice. "I didn't want to be left out of what my friends were doing." Arcueid noticed them leaving the store. "Welcome back!" she said. "That's everybody then. Now that the gang's all here, let's go." Riesbyfe noted that Arcuied had confirmed that all of them were still there. How strange. She then speculated that they should do something about that shop before a lot of victims appear. As they continued down the tunnel, Arcueid spoke up. "That's not the way we go to get out of here. The right way is over here," the True Ancestor said. Eventually the group got to an old metal door that groaned on its hinges as they pushed it out of the way. Satsuki was surprised. "I know this! Isn't this the underside of Tohno-kun's mansion?" "That's right," said Arcueid. "So if we follow this, we'll be able to get topside soon?" asked Riesbyfe. "What are you talking about? We're here because Sion's navigation is hopeless," replied Arcueid. "Oh, that's right. I had forgotten," said Riesbyfe. Arcueid muttered. "Not sure if this is working hard or working carelessly. I don't get that person." Satsuki laughed. "Ries is always working hard. But she's also a little careless." Riesbyfe wasn't sure if that was true. Was it? "I have no sense when it comes to this place. But Sion is working hard. Maybe I can take it easy." Sion replied, "You need to be a little more aware of impending crises. I have no idea what the official expression is for this. Maybe just a smile is enough." Riesbyfe hmmed. Even an expert alchemist had no idea. What was that red-haired woman? Some kind of special youkai unique to Japan? Arcueid waved away the idea. "She's just another type of young lady. She's also one of the people that help out at this mansion." Riesbyfe found that to be problematic. "She operates that dangerous shop. She works as a servant in a mansion. This mansion must be a den of thieves," concluded the Shield Knight. "Not really. In fact, it's pleasant and comfortable. The little sister is interesting and funny, and I won't get bored with the forest behind it. But after we get out here, let's go to the ocean!" "Nice, Arcuied-san! I'm in total agreement!" she said, happy that the True Ancestor was going along. Sion, nervous, told Satsuki that there was something happening that she might not like. LATER . . . A luxury limosuine rolled down the road, with the girls inside. Satsuki was happy. "It's so nice to go out with everyone! It's been so long since I've been to the ocean!" Sion remembered what a friend had told her: " 'It's be impossible for you to be walking around in that state'." Arcuied commented that their friend Ciel was fussy and loud at times. She commented on their newest addition's presence: "But this person could have taken something other than a car." Sion replied, "No. At night it'd be fine, but having mundanes see how the sun affects us is unacceptable. We are most grateful for your providing something for us to use, Princess of the True Ancestors." Arcueid observed that they'd applied all of the sunblocker. "However, I can't pack a bento for us to eat in the car. What a shame." Satsuki realized they had let down their guest. "My apologies. But thank you again. Someday I'll find a way to return the favor to you." Arcueid stared out the window. "Someday, huh? But I think you don't have to worry about it. Sacchin's always working hard. I'm happy to help out to express my appreciation for your evening patrols." Riesbyfe looked at the princess, surprised. "Is that how it is? I misunderstood you, vampire. I thought you were a mere tyrant, but you are in fact quite humane." Arcueid laughed loudly. "You're not wrong! But it's all good. All right, let's get there in double time!" Arcueid stepped on the gas. LATER . . . "It feels good to pass by a lot of streets on a weekday," said Arcueid as they rolled down the road. Sion seemed a little uncertain. "True. However, there aren't many drivers on the road." Sensing her friend's anxiety, Riesbyfe asked "So it isn't normally like this?" Sion shook her head. "Since we got onto this street, we should have seen many oncoming cars. We haven't seen a single one." Arcueid hmm'd and then noticed something further down the road. "What's that?" Sion said that it was some kind of barricade that resembled small animals. Someone had placed it on the road ahead. They needed to exercise caution. Interested, Satsuki tried to have a look at the upcoming obstacle. "A small animal barricade?" The car came to a stop. As the driver side window rolled down, Arcueid noticed who had set up the barricade. "How's it going, nyaa?" asked NECO-Arc. "Lots of arrivals and departures are making me sigh. Not even time for tea. From the smell of things, you had a raw meat full course." Riesbyfe asked if the cat spirit smelled that. "Not that I care, mind you," it explained. "But setting that aside, sorry to get in the way of your fun and ultra-relaxing driving time. Beyond this is our setup at the beach for on-location shooting. End of the line, I'm afraid." Arcueid was surprised. "Really? I hadn't heard about it." The NECO Spirit continued. "I set up some signs along the way. Didn't you see them? Hmm. Well, how about showing me your license?" Arcueid saw that the creature was trying to make a pun about a cat stealing (TL note: the word 'rat' (nezumi) sounds close to nusumi (stealing)), which prompted the NECO Spirit to hit Arcueid. "Nope! Not in any way." Looking at the odd barricade, Sion declared that mundanes would perceive these things as cats - and unaware, avoid infiltrating this space. "A spy near a barricade to the masses? It's a shame this cute thing can't walk amongst them," observed Riesbyfe. "You mentioned location shooting. Is this for a movie or something like that?" asked Satsuki. "Exactly! A powerful duo with moe in a huge cat fight! That's what we'll be showing to the public. Really and For Sure NECO-Arc Robot: vs Mega-Hisui. Everything will be destroyed when those two clash. Or something." Arcueid's brows furrowed as she heard the description. "That sounds like the kind of movie you'd want to release in January." The strange Spirit resumed its self-centered talk. "By the way, the worldwide release of the DVD for it has just been confirmed." Riesbyfe responded, "Personally speaking, I'm not excited for the film. In terms of the film trade, it splendidly forsakes good taste. But don't worry. If you promote it well, I'll buy one ticket for it." The cat beamed. "Really? If we sell to users like you, Great Cats' Village Media Mix will be a big success. Yeah. I like you. I won't ask for your license. In fact, in your case, in light of your unconcerned faces I'll skip the formalities and move the barricade out of the road. Now get a move on." For confirmation, Satsuki asked the being if it wasn't going to stop them. "I want to stop things that I can," it answered. "I'll sit indian style waiting for another meeting. You won't be able to get by next time. Nyeh-heh-heh! In any case, that Egyptian priestess girl - the one attacked by the vampire - is showing off a lot of spirit. If we worked together in the movies, it'd be easy. You could be my sidekick. We'd be a hit." Satsuki was excited. "This is awesome! We'll even get a good extra benefit from our trip to the beach! Hey, let's check out the stage once we get to the beach!" she said, happy. Riesbyfe was on board with the idea. "It sounds fun. Anyway, o beautiful lady over there, will there be other things like you at the stage?" "So many that you'll tire of them," answered the NECO Spirit. "A beach full of NECO," said Riesbyfe, imagining what it would be like. "I never dreamed that the beach would have such a heavenly scene. It's like paradise, which I'll shorten to paraiso." She chuckled contentedly. Arcueid remained neutral. "It doesn't really matter to me one way or the other. How about you, Sion?" "I doubt there are any in the group opposed to that diversion, and I don't mind," concluded Sion. The NECO Spirit chuckled. "If you really want to see it that badly, you should be honest and say so. However, a bunch of delusional girls like you has no guarantee of surviving." Arcueid took offense. "What's with that attitude? We're just going over to the beach for swimming. There's no way we'd get involved in the filming of your movie. There's no problem." NECO-Arc was unconvinced. "Hidden in the sands here and fro are explosives primed for events in the movie. But I don't know where they are!" chortled the thing. For the second time that day, the group was overtaken by surprise. "I ask only to be certain, but do they contain burning substances such as napalm?" inquired Sion. "Yes! It surely and most definitely will make huge and giganimous fireballs that'll make you go like 'AAAAAHHHHH'! Lots of varied drum cans are being used to make it like a real battle. No hope for someone hit by that. Dust to dust, or something." Riesbyfe was shocked. "Why are you using real weapons and explosions?" The NECO Spirit seemed shrugged. "But yeah, if you get hit with it you'll get burned badly. Our director got mad when I said that. I'm not in the movie 'cause I don't want to get injured." Satsuki was appalled. "You've got to get that crazy artist fired!" "Listen up," began the NECO Spirit. "In order to become an actor, even a - (it paused to look at its watch) Oh, about now the giant monster fight is about to start filming. How dangerous." "I'm interested in what kind of movie you're filming," said Sion. "But let's set that aside for now. Now matter how mighty and powerful you make it out to be, it's just a tokusatsu film." The cat smirked. "Yeah, about that - it's all made with practical effects. We're not using any CGI. The gigantic mecha we use is the real thing. The feet are made of metal and about 10 meters across. Even if it sort of steps on you, it'll hurt a lot! Or rather, you'll die. You can see it from here. It's over there." "Ohhh," said Arcueid. "A gigantic maid-san is looking at us from a mountain!" said Satsuki as she flinched. "An Itsuzo mecha? How artistic," sighed Riesbyfe. Sion turned her clinical gaze upon the robot, taking in the scenery. "The complex construction of the Tenzo next to it is done according to the type of math used to make the pyramids - code skills, I believe," said the alchemist. Riesbyfe was incredulous. "But wouldn't it be cheaper to use CGI instead of building all of this?" The NECO Spirit laughed again. "We are glad to use everything we get." Satsuki's eyes widened - "You get to keep that?" "A robot of that size for free? What kind of gigantic organization is backing this?" wondered Sion. "Can't tell you that. It's top secret. Rumor says the last person to leak info got the axe - literally." Meanwhile, a gigantic explosion occured off in the distance. It was followed with the sound of many NECO Spirits making the weird ululation they are known for. "What is that noise?" asked Arcueid. "The sounds of emergency/rather necessary faith - cat steps, beautiful and haunting echoes," it explained. "These haphazard and irresponsible utterances are like an unlucky oni! It's like my sixth sense got activated as a Chinese wild goose spins round and round!" moaned Riesbyfe and she held her head. "Contact from a youma. Oh, what's that? Mega Hisui's taken serious damage from stepping on a napalm bomb. You'll be buried in 60 seconds from rubble created in the detonation. Emergency evacuation. The director has gone the whole distance and will always be with you. Or so it says." NECO Arc explained, seemingly unconcerned. Then it and the rest of the group processed what had just been said. "Wait up! It's already falling over!" cried Riesbyfe. "Stay frosty, Ries. At that angle, it'll probably fall into the ocean. The chances of us being hit by a full blast are below 0.01%," observed Sion, attempting to keep her group from panicking. As usual, Sion missed the fine details - a point which Satsuki called to attention. "But Sion, when it falls, there'll be a huge wave coming this way." "Oh yes. But rather than a giant one, it's only created for a movie. I doubt a real gigantic wave would come this way," said Sion. "Nope! The robot weighs a ton. Then there's the explosion. We placed an emphasis on using real objects," bragged the NECO Spirit. "Umm, a giant wave could be bad even for me," said Arcueid. "We've got to retreat! We're blasting through!" As the group drove through the mess that the street was becoming, NECO-Arc assisted them with its special moves. Satsuki saw they were out of time - the robo-maid fell into the ocean. "Sachi! roll up the windows! We gotta bet everything on this!" yelled Arcueid. The drive wasn't easy, either. "A wall is coming up, Sion!" Behind them, a collosal wave loomed, threatening to wash them away. "That wave is at least 50 meters high!" observed Riesbyfe. "Sion, do you have some way to deal with this?" Calm as always, Sion said "Of course. Osiris has a secret killer technique - Bring the Red Room, A Final Move. To do it, I have to start guarding in a stable state, and I need to be able to see the stars." "That's no good!" said Riesbyfe. "If the conditions aren't right, there's only that!" Arcueid was bizarrely chipper. "Oh, this is no good! Everyone, take crash positions!" The car clipped something. "Well, if our luck is good, may we meet again. Daaaaassshhh!" and with that, the Princess of the True Ancestors ran out of the car and took off at maximum speed. "She bolted out of the car and took off running!" That was all Satsuki had time to say before the wave caught up to the car. LATER . . . Arcueid stepped out of the water and onto dry land. "Hey, everybody! Are you still alive!" Riesbyfe grunted in acknowledgment. "A bell is ringing in my head." "I haven't sustained any serious damage," said Sion. "For the time being, I'm all right," Satsuki replied. "As expected, you guys are tough," said Arcueid. "So do you want to go swimming?" asked the blonde-haired woman. Sion assessed the situation. "It'd be better if we didn't. The sand from the beach was washed into that, meaning the bomb drums are in the ocean. The robot was also knocked into the water and appears to be leaking red liquid into it." Satsuki was disappointed, but understood what Sion was saying. "Okay, I'll give up on swimming. Uuu." Riesbyfe, her voice heavy with disappointment, began to tell them about the next "bit of bad news". "What is it?" inquired Sion. "The integrity of the waterproofing treatment - it was damaged by the shock of the explosion." Arcueid didn't understand why that was bad. "So what? So long as the sunblocker works, it's all right, isn't it?" Satsuki began to dread what would happen next. "Okay Sion, how much of a chance do we have to proceed, in the form of a percentage?" "Less than one percent," was Sion's clinical analysis. "The True Ancestor will fare better, but we should be moving outside the range of the explosion." "Can't argue with that," said Riesbyfe, and began to pick up their equipment. Arcueid was still unconcerned. "It's not so bad, except for that revolting odor. Why are Sion and Satsuki leaving? C'mon, don't complain." In the distance, the damaged robot began to spark as its internal systems began to short out. "Oh look at all the plasma." Satsuki tried to laugh happily, but then asked Arcueid to get them out of there. Sion pointed out that while Arcueid might not need to worry about another explosion, the rest of them would, and while the group was willing to overlook her earlier indiscretion, they would prefer for her to take all of them with her instead of running off by herself. That was only logical. Arcueid then realized the danger she was in. Finally the red liquid in the water was ignited by the sparking plasma. LATER STILL . . . Satsuki wailed in delight as she sailed through the air, and landed in a large body of water, laughing as she resurfaced. "I didn't know this pool took reservations for nighttime use," commented Sion. "We went through a lot today." "We ended up having to do a lot, it's true," observed Arcueid. "I didn't think I'd end up getting sunburned." Sion told Arcueid that in light of their actions, she owed the True Ancestor an apology. "I've already forgotten about it, so don't worry about it. In fact, I've been interested in what a sunburn is like. Until this heals, don't you think that Shiki will be surprised?" Sion said that certainly, Shiki's response would probably be to take her hand in his. "Wouldn't it be natural for him to go to his real girlfriend? Although I haven't done anything. Isn't that right, little sister?" Akiha humphed. "For me, even if I wanted to go, there's no guarantee that I would. My actions here are just part of a trade." "Ah so. Thank you, Akiha. For our sake, you went to this trouble," said Sion in gratitude for Akiha's help. "It's all right if you don't worry about this little trifle," said Akiha. "After listening to your story, I understood some things. For example, it was Arcueid that wanted to go to the ocean. Your group became involved in some trouble there. When you think things through carefully, you're the victims. After hearing that, it was only natural for me, a friend, to want to help out," Akiha pointed out. "How very much like you, little sister! A ruler has to act like that. That's our president! Normally she's so cold-hearted, but sometimes she acts with a big heart. Although she has no breasts," said Arcueid. "I don't you to flatter me, and the last part was uncalled for," growled Akiha, her anger beginning to rise. "Wait, are you going home?" asked Arcueid. "You just got here. Why not get in the pool with us?" "No, I'm going to abstain. I have something I need to do. Well, I will bid you adieu." Splashing in the pool, Satsuki called for Sion and Riesbyfe. "See, your friend is calling you," observed Akiha as she made preparations to leave. "Sion, sometimes you need to take a break and relax. And Ries was it? You don't need to hold back. Go ahead and swim." Riesbyfe was flustered. "No, I don't need to." Sion observed that Riesbyfe had not calmed down since coming here. "Have you sustained some injury duing the day's events?" asked the alchemist. "No, I'm fine," said Riesbyfe. "After I think this through carefully, I don't really want to show off my body in this swimsuit. I'm too embarrassed to wear it." "Hmm. I haven't encountered many women who feel the same way as you, Ries. I see." Riesbyfe told the alchemist not to stare at her. "Okay, I'll change back to my regular clothes," said Riesbyfe as she went back to the changing room. "What's with that?" asked Arcueid. "We got you a nice thing to wear! What a waste!" and then the True Ancestor grabbed Riesbyfe. Satsuki got out of the pool and walked over to them. "What are you two doing?" Satsuki grabbed Riesbyfe. "Satsuki, what are you doing? I'm not a dakimakura!" And then Satsuki dropped all of them into the pool. Arcueid smiled. This was youth! A lot of our talk about the pool today was strange, but this was good. Sometimes it was nice to be this kind of vampire. MEANWHILE . . . Inside a superscience lab, the mad doctor/witch/maid cackled with delight. "How many of those were crushed beneath the step of my giant robot? The construction of the feet, and the durability of the body weren't sufficient. Even so! Today, things went just as planned! With the self-destruction device I added, I was able to create massive casualties among the NECO Spirit army, my ultimate foes! Meaning my trojan horse strategy was a success! I even made a lot of progress by building a gigantic robot in real life! I'm one step further to reaching my ultimate goal! Ufu .. ufufufu . .. WAH HA HA HA HA HA!" laughed the mad scientist. Then the door to the secret room slammed open. "I thought I saw a strange door in the middle of my stroll," commented Akiha. "All I had to do was pull a secret lever. You popped up in a very interesting place." Kohaku, totally caught red-handed, gulped. "You got through that door! It was supposed to hold back even elephants doing a line dance! Oh, this is unlucky! I don't know who you are or where you're from! Who are youuuuu?" Akiha smiled as she walked over to her target. "Hmm, I wonder. I don't have any name to give to someone sabotaging the mansion, who labors away in this lab doing evil things. You get no courtesy. No mercy." "Oh no! Why are you here!? Gotta consult with Sion-" "Let's get to it," began Akiha. "Are you resigned to accept some pain? Instead of a will, maybe you can say some cool line." The door slammed shut. Kohaku wailed in terror/pain. THE END. ========================================================================
