I found a decent Thai restaurant on the way back from my language school. The lunch set I got was 680 yen. There's a Coco Ichibanya near my school. When I think I'm starting to develop a cold I get a super-hot vegetable, mushroom, and crab curry and burn that stuff right out of my system. ------------------------------------- Some really great friends of mine invited me over to their house for a home-cooked meal. This chicken pot pie was amazing. It came with salad, a dessert, and tasty Japanese beer. Their pet doggo was sizing me up. I think I passed the test, though, as he later hopped on the couch next to me and went to sleep. ------------------------------------- I participated in a Call of Cthulhu tournament here in Japan. A bookmark from the event, given out by our Keeper (that's CofC speak for Storyteller). In addition to the bookmark, his Keeper's screen had lots of quotes in English from Lovecraft. I asked him if he read the original stories in English but he explained that he hadn't. Here's the scenario we played through. It almost took us all of the six hours the game was supposed to run. We did have breaks to get snacks, use the restroom, etc. Without giving away the plot, I can say I liked it and that it reminded me a little bit of Silent Hill. Another scenario from the same writer. The game was a lot of fun. I got contact info from the Keeper and will write to him soon. I really enjoyed the Cthulhu Only Convention and plan to participate again in the future. ------------------------------------- After getting settled in, I finally got a train pass for my morning commute and a train pass case to hold the item. And yes, I am a Girls Und Panzer fan, as my let's play videos on bitchute prove. ------------------------------------- I really had the sense of arriving in Japan after getting to the train station and seeing billboards. This one is for Mizuki Nana's latest release. I really liked her song on the Peace Walker OST, which played during the battle with the final boss. ------------------------------------- The plane ride was tiring, but I was even more exhausted from cleaning out my apartment. I was ready to visit a net cafe and get some rest. I was generally very pleased with the service I received here. Because I reserved a room ahead of time, they waived the luggage storage fee so I was able to leave my humongous suitcases with them, head on out for some food, and come back to lay down on a shikibuton atop a tatami mat. A heavy sliding wooden door with metal fixtures marked the entrance to the net cafe. Overall, I would strongly recommend Nagomi Style Cafe to anyone in Tokyo looking for an inexpensive place to crash. I would, however, suggest that the person pack a pair of earplugs as the intercom system quietly played people playing kyoto or shamisen. I just took the opportunity to rest and meditate so it did not bother me.
